Mechanical Project Engineer

Job ResponsibilitiesWe offer an exciting opportunity for innovative, self-motivated Engineers who are looking for well-rounded, hands-onexperience within a stable and unique industry.
Plastipak is the largest privately-held plastic rigid manufacturer in NorthAmerica, with global operations.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing budgets and timelines of multiple Manufacturing Services projects, rangingfrom purchasing through the operation of equipment.
You will gain experience in establishing Project Management methodologies, processes, and practices.
Having strong communication, relationship building skills, and the ability to be hands-on in a fast-paced company thatprovides exposure to corporate office teams, production teams, vendors, and our customers are the foundation for success inthis role.
The Mechanical Project Engineer will lead and/or support:
o Designing new plant layouts, mechanical systems, and processes.
o Plant layouts using AutoCAD Building Systems 2005.
o Mechanical Systems supply/demand analysis.
o Design of process cooling, compressed air and HVAC systems.
o Design and detailing of mechanical piping systems and process schematics.
o Collaboration with internal teams (both corporate and manufacturing site), vendors, and customers.
o Communication w/ vendors, customers, plant personnel and multiple plant locations.
o Working with vendors to ensure proper equipment requirements and ensuring delivery of machines/equipment todesired location at the agreed upon time.
o On-Site coordination of Contractors to insure compliance with established job specifications and timelines.
o Development of technical expertise on innovative machinery and equipment.
o Installation, troubleshooting and debugging of machinery.
o Develop/Write Equipment/Machinery Design and Performance Specifications.
o Equipment/Quotation/Vendor evaluation and selection.
o Design of machinery that cannot be purchased.
o Write Mechanical Contractor Bid Specifications.
o Establishing Project Management methodologies & processes.
o Development and tracking of project budgets and alternatives.
o Project Documentation Control.
o Project Scheduling, Tracking and Status Reporting.
Use and Development of Project Management Tools andTemplates.
Skills/QualificationsREQUIREMENTSo Bachelor's Degree required, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
o 2-5 years of relevant Project Management experienceo Strong communication skillso Desire to work in a hands-on, team-oriented, fast-paced environmento Strong working knowledge of:
AutoCad 200i, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
o Ability to travel extensively (up to 80%)PREFERRED SKILLSo Experience with injection molding machinery, blow molding machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, generators, motors,chillers and compressorso PMMI based Project Management Trainingo Experience with functioning PMOo PMP (Project Management Professional) certificationPlastipak is Mobile Friendly.
