Description/Job Summary
This position will have three job functions: (1) proactively work with purchasing and the plants on new and current supplier performance and evaluation. (2) support the logistics team on both international and domestic transportation needs and (3) conducts regular contact and communication with customers and other key program personnel; consults with the application team in the identification and closure of commercial issues.
Responsibilities/Duties
Conducts supplier surveys to evaluate supplier quality systems, technical and process capability, based on customer's quality, cost and delivery requirements
Will work with plant teams and suppliers, vendors and customers. Assist with the qualification and approval (PPAP) of new suppliers and support the maintenance of approved supplier list
Work as Quality problem coordinator for plant supply chains to disposition CAR's related to suppliers where appropriate or assistance required
Train and support suppliers in their use of various quality prevention and Metaldyne's Plex quality system.
Support the logistics team with the day-to-day operation including carrier management, accounting, freight bill questions, issuance of routing instructions, conducting spot bids and process improvements.
Stays abreast of potential new business opportunities. Remains knowledgeable of customer's business strategy, participates in the assessment of validity and relevance of opportunities, appropriately communicates information and opportunities within Metaldyne
Develops and negotiates program pricing and responds to internal and customer pricing requests. Generally under the guidance and parameters set by senior sales personnel and application team management: reviews and submits quotes and other commercially related correspondence to the customer, provides target pricing, responds to quotation feedback. Drives closure on commercial issues.
Generates new business sales by effectively demonstrating the value of product/service to the customer. Helps define and communicate customer requirements to the application teams. Attends Product Development and other program team meetings to provide commercial goals and provide resolution of commercial issues.
Acts as a liaison between customers and affiliate personnel to coordinate, review and resolve all daily commercial and business issues pertaining to delivery, timing, meeting customer requirements, quality and obsolescence.
Required Skills
Excellent communication skills.
Advanced user of Microsoft excel and project; familiar with Access.
Above average Analytical skill; Good organization skills; Detailed oriented.
Familiarity with program management principles and request for quotation and contract review processes.
Negotiation skills to resolve fundamental situations/issues, which may be potentially conflict in nature, while making point firmly and seeking a positive outcome for both sides.
Required Experience
Working knowledge of the use of quality improvement methodology such as SPC, Six Sigma, Poka Yoke, manufacturing process flows, PFMEA, Control Plans, and automotive manufacturing requirements.
Metaldyne will provide various quality training opportunities; 0-5 years' experience within automotive industry.
Details
Travel Requirement is 50%Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
