Systems Engineer III Systems Engineer III Urgent need! Position will be located in Plymouth initially and will then move to Novi. Infotainment system engineer interfacing with the customer base and Product Planning Team in Japan with regard to overall design of infotainment system, with emphasis on vehicle BUS and wireless communication technology. Emphasis will be on prototyping and implementing future consumer technologies into the automotive space. Will work with the Software group concerning prototype development. Compiles reports and presentations on findings.
Responsibilities: Interface with the customer base and the headquarters in Japan for infotainment system engineering with emphasis on creating prototypes for North America and technical review support. Experience or knowledge of digital content distribution is a definite plus. Serves as a contact with the customer and Product Planning Team in Japan. Propose and explain next generation infotainment system, feature/function, and content. Negotiate system and product specifications and requirements with the customer and other Tier 1s or Tier 2s. Help create product roadmaps for North America. Obtain new business by proposing new system solutions to potential customers. Collaborate with digital content providers to develop new solutions. Obtain information requested by Product Planning Team in Japan from the customer. Provide required information to the customer. Responsible for reviewing and negotiating customer specifications and requirements. Create technical reports. Prepare necessary documentation, material, reports, etc. for customer engineering meetings. Request necessary input to Product Planning Team in Japan as part of preparation. Develop and maintain open issue list for customer engineering meetings. Attend project related meetings with the customer. Author minutes from customer meetings. Gain in-depth understanding of customer requirements/requests to give clear and concrete instructions to Product Planning Team in Japan. Work closes with engineering to have better understanding of technical directions an insight.
Qualifications: System design experience with infotainment products Prototype experience preferred Experience in Infotainment/Automotive industry Understanding of OEM cycle to help create development schedule for products/platforms Understanding of current telematics systems, trends and technologies Knowledge of cloud technology and experience in expanding cloud capabilities Automotive OEM experience. System design experience with audio products. Ability of block diagram reading. Ability to prepare and perform technical presentations to OEM's Highly organized, meticulous and methodical. Excellent written communication skill. Ability to closely work with electrical and software engineers to solve issues. Willing to work with cross-cultural teams. Willing to support and work on system engineering issues as needed such as electrical issues to make sure on-time deliveries and quality customer support. Proficiency with MS software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project). Ability to travel internationally. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or other related fields or equivalent with 5-10 years related experience. Experience or knowledge of digital content distribution is a definite plus.
