Quality Engineer


Responsibilities:
for the quality system planning and performance of a section in body manufacturing, paint, or general assembly.
The position utilizes the combined skills of data analysis, manufacturing process knowledge, automotive quality tools, and 8D problem solving to support and improve the team's quality performance.
The intent of this position is to ultimately transition into the Quality Assurance Engineering role with full responsibility for the quality performance of a section within the plant.
Participate in APQP process related to responsible area Support manufacturing team equipment and process capability analysis Assist in developing product and process validation/inspection plans Assist in delivering quality tool training on various topics Identify and contain suspect material assist supplier quality functions Own 8D/RCCA resolution for internal quality issues Participate in utilizing metrology equipment to solve problems Assist in the analysis and improvement of quality performance Share responsibility for quality related continuous improvement projects Monitor, create, and provide quality performance data for KPI boards Perform 8D/PFMEA/Control plan review/update Utilize warranty and dealer quality input to improve processes Assist in developing, maintaining, and improving the quality culture within responsible area - Potential business travel to support product /process development at company and supplier locations No direct reports Technical team leadership skills required to achieve goals This is what you'll need:
In order to qualify for the Quality Engineer job role, the successful candidate will have a combination of experience and/or education that would indicate a general knowledge of and trainability in the following:
Engineering, Quality, or Technical Bachelor Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience APQP (Design for Quality) Problem solving 8D method Manufacturing/assembly process PPAP documents PFMEA Control plan MSA Metrology equipment CAD (Catia preferred) Statistical process control / control charts Minitab or similar software Data analytics software skills; ex.
Excel, Tableau, Looker, etc.
- Kaizen / continuous improvement process The desire to achieve 6 Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt Good oral and written communication skills Project management skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
